  • Preview of SAP B1 Web Client

If your a seasone SAP B1 user than you'll probably familliar with the SAP B1 Desktop Client. However, the picture above is a screenshot from the SAP B1 Web Client. At Q1 2025 SAP SE announced a revamped version of the Web Client with new changes and updates that we think might be intresting to end-users.

What Changed in the SAP B1 Web Client?

  • Web Client is accessed through the Web Browser (i.e. Google Chrome, Safari etc)
  • Modern User Interface based on SAP Fiori
  • Built In Analytics Feature to make dashboards and analyse your existing data.
  • Existing Add-Ons, If you wish to use Desktop Add-Ons they will have to be migrated to the Web (Consult your SAP Partner like PT Mitra Inti Solusindo - MIS)

What Remains the Same?

  • Lisencing. Same Licese can be used for Desktop and Web Client. You don't need a new SAP B1 Lisence for the Web Client your existing lisence will work.
  • Database remains the same. Meaning you can leverage the new Analytics feature to analyse existing data you inputted in previous years.
  • SAP Configuration (Document Numbering, Currency, Period etc) remains the same across Desktop and Web.
  • Document Flow

What will happen to the SAP B1 Desktop Client?

SAP SE remains commited to maintaining and developing the SAP B1 Desktop Client. So, if your used to the desktop and prefer the desktop client it won't be an issue. Furthermore, some processes due to its nature fit the Desktop Client better. In example, the Production modules which is data heavy and is typically accessed from a fixed location would fit better in the SAP B1 Desktop Client.

How to Upgrade?

The SAP B1 Web Client is avaialable today (6 Jan 2026) for clients participating in Annual Maintenence. The first step is to contact your SAP B1 Consultant like PT Mitra Inti Solusindo. Ensure your SAP B1 Consultant:

  1. Validate the Hardware Specs is compatible
  2. Identify which Business Process you wish to move to the Web Client
  3. Identify which Add-Ons need to be migrated

Overall, the continued development of the Web Client is good news for existing SAP B1 users, especially with the enhanced Analytics modules. Its also shows that SAP SE is commited to developing and supporting SAP B1 for the long-run.
